Often compared to Sara Bareilles and Alanis Morissette, Shanna has been called the “southern Adele” with her soulful vocals and rich, introspective lyrics. Raised in Montgomery, Alabama, Shanna grew up listening to Sarah McLachlan and Jeff Buckley and developed an affinity for moving songwriting and vocals. In 1999, Shanna took her shot to live in New York City with only $200 in her pocket to pursue music and acting. Once in NYC, she attended Circle In The Square Theatre School and performed music gigs at popular venues such as Bowery Electric, Roseland Ballroom, Crash Mansion and The Bitter End. She later traveled frequently to Europe to tour between 2002 and 2007. Since then, Shanna has toured the southeast US and has settled in NYC where she currently resides in Harlem.
